Changing Website Providers
My experience changing my web host

I have found that changing hosting providers can be a royal pain in the rear end. After changing I am glad to have all my websites in 1 central location to manage. Now, let me tell you how I did it.
The first part of the process was to do some comparative shopping. I looked at the number of websites that I could put on one account, the amount of band width, and most importantly the price. Currently, I have 2 more domains that I own and one other website that is currently running. That particular site is a retail site, which is important to know when pricing a new host. On that site, I am linking to a Square store front for my sales. That is a lot cheaper than having to use a credit card provider and keeping up with all the regulations that go along with that.
The next thing that I look at is the number of email addresses that are available through the host. With 2 sites, I have about 6 or 7 email addresses. This is also a pain to set up the email accounts again for everyone going through the new host. I will recommend that you make a list of email addresses that you need and if they are shared or not. Like a Sales@mysite.com may go to multiple people.
The hardest part of all of this, has been getting the actual sites up and running. This includes transferring the domain to the new provider. You will have to initiate the transfer with the old provider and get a code. Get the new site up and running, and get the DNS changed on the old provider to point to the new provider. Then waiting for everything to fall into place. The domain transfer alone can take upto a week.
Now, for the final part, you have to make sure that everyone using an email address on the site, has everything to connect to the new email. Good luck when switching your host.
